Rosemary Kahlmus Works

Rosemary Kahlmus

I’m a self taught watercolorist. I became fascinated with the medium the first time I was introduced. I love the way it takes on a life of its own as it effortlessly moves across the paper.

I don’t try to control the medium, instead I let it control me. The watercolor lets me know when to interact and when it’s to be left alone. I respect  the unique beauty that the medium is capable of creating without me.

My art is often mysterious and a bit illusive. It’s because I strive to present an opportunity for my viewer to call on his or her own creative imagination to complete the details of my art. The interaction is very important to me, it’s something I strive for.

My inspiration comes from nature. I spend most days in my studio in Meridian, Mississippi experimenting with new washes, new color mixes and new ideas.  Time there is magical.
